Brad Jermeland is an extremely accomplished educational professional in Iowa. His acknowledgment in administration, program infrastructure and personnel management comes from his range of experience in the many areas of education. Brad Jermeland is a leader whose main focus is to provide students with all of the necessary tools and skills to advance toward a life of values, visions and goals. He also focuses on providing them with the appropriate education and confidence to go forth as well. Along with having a career in education with titles such as teacher, principal and superintendent, Brad has several certifications and achievements and is very involved in his community.
Brad Jermeland is currently the Superintendent of the PCM Community School District just west of Des Moines, Iowa. His previous titles include Associate Superintendent of the Indianola Community School District, Adjunct Instructor at Simpson College, Building Principal at Whittier Elementary School, Special Education Zone Coordinator at Heartland AEA 11, Johnston, Building Principal at Carlisle Elementary, Principal at Manson Northwest Webster Elementary, Teacher and Unit Leader – Grade 5 at Hoover Elementary and Special Education Teacher in Behavior Disability Program at Madison Elementary. Within these roles, Brad Jermeland managed human resource functions such as recruiting, interviewing, orienting, training and supervision; oversaw budgets, negotiations, salary issues, curricular decisions and community relations and has been recognized for balanced judgment, stability and capacity to drive consensus among staff and students.
Brad has presented at several education conferences and meetings within the state of Iowa over the last 20 plus years. He also holds certifications within the Iowa department of Education as a PK-12 Superintendent and AEA Administrator of Education, Director of Special Education, PK-12 Principal/PK-12 Special Education Supervisor and K-12 Supervisor Special Education/Instruction. Along with these great achievements, Brad Jermeland’s dedication to the community was proven when he became part of the Warren County Empowerment Board from 1999-2003. While he was on the board, Brad Chaired the Warren County Empowerment Board, supervised implementation of services to children from birth to five years of age and supervised implementation of federal and state grant money. In addition, he served the community as an Indianola Soccer Tribe/Parks and Recreation Coach, Prevention Concepts Board Member, Church Session Member, Interpretation and Stewardship Committee Chair, Church Administration and Finance Committee Member and a Sunday School Teacher. He was also a part of Simpson College Education Advisory Council and the Indianola Kiwanis Club.
It is no surprise, the involvement Brad has had in his community and career, as he has always been involved in the programs that were offered within his own education. Brad Jermeland received his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a minor is Special Education. He received his Master of Science in Educational Administration and Supervision
From Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa soon after, and continued to go on to become a Specialist in Education at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Throughout his college career, he became part of the American Association of School Administrators, School Administrators of Iowa, received First in the Nation in Education, Governor’s Award and KIMT Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence.
In Brad’s spare time, he loves to read books – mainly non-fiction business books. Some of Brad’s favorites include Malcolm Gladwell’s, The Tipping Point, David and Goliath and Blink, as well as Jim Collins’ Built to Last, Good to Great, and Great by Choice.
Brad Jermeland is a role model and an inspiration to many individuals, students and peers. He is constantly striving to make sure his community and students are provided with all the necessary tools they need to set and meet their goals. Brad Jermeland is extremely appreciated within the school districts of Iowa and will continue to do great things.
